For me, the red velvet robe draped over the cross is symbolic of the blood of Christ shed on the cross borne out of His great love for you and me so that we might have life. The red rose at the top of the cross arising out of His robe speaks of His passion for each one of us. The young boy kneeling in prayer at the foot of the cross is a picture of the child-like humility with which we approach our Lord and Saviour in times of need, communion, or the desire to be alone with Him. To God be the Glory.
